Most people “archive” their photographs by throwing them in shoe boxes. Not very easy to share or organize them, right? Maybe you’ve said “I’ve got to scan my photos” but got discouraged by the time it takes. Yet photo archiving is important.
We’ll turn a whole shoe box full of photos (up to 200 prints) into a convenient Photo CD or DVD for just $54.95. It’s our new “everyday scan” service. It is a fast and in-expensive digitization of prints so you can share them or even make more prints later.
CDs and DVDs are a lot more convenient, and they make great gifts. Now you can turn a lifetime of photos into a convenient disk, and make extra copies for all the children and grandchildren. Maybe even an extra copy for the Smithsonian Institute photo archives!

*You don’t have to count out exactly 50 or 100 photos. We’ll bill you a pro-rata for quantities in between standard “break points.”
*Photos for bulk scanning orders must be unmounted, not torn or bent, no smaller than wallet size or larger than 8” x 10”.
*Please remove photos from envelopes. If you want to help keep groups of photographs together, you may want to put an index card at the beginning of each group with some information on it and we’ll scan that right along with the photos.
*We still offer our custom individual scanning services when larger prints are wanted.
*Our standard scanning resolution for this service is 300 dpi. This is adequate for making good copies the same size or up to twice the size of the original photo.
*As an extra-cost option, your photos can be scanned at 600 dpi. This makes image files that are 4 times bigger, so the files take up more space on your computer’s hard drive or on CDs and DVD. Add 50% to the total of the order for 600 dpi scanning.
*All photos must be submitted at the same time.
*All submitted photos must be facing the same direction.
Non-conforming photos:
Mounted or thick photos, such as Polaroid and Kodak Instant Photos, may not feed through our automated equipment. Neither will photos less than about 2½ by 3½ inches. We can scan them, but there is a fee of $1.99 for these pictures which must be custom scanned.
*This service is for the scanning of prints, not slides.
Important notice:
By submitting film or other materials to Rapid Photo, I agree that the value of the films is no more than the cost of scanning the same quantity of photographs. That is, if Rapid Photo would charge me $90 to scan my pictures, the maximum amount of damage I may claim is limited to $90. Except for such agreed value, Rapid Photo will not be liable for any other loss or damage, direct, consequential or incidental to the customer’s use of such services.
We honor photographers’ copyrights.
If you submit photos that are the identifiable work of a professional photographer we will return them unscanned, unless you provide us with the permission of the photographer(s).
